Color Tattoo vs. Mac Paint Pots...let the battle begin

Today's post is going to be on two infamous beauty products; MAC Paint Pots, and the new Maybelline 24 hrr Color Tattoo's. Both are cream eye-shadows, or a base for your eye-shadows which ever way you want to use them does not matter.
Okay, so for starters the MAC Paint Pots are around 18 CAD, while the Maybelline Color Tattoos are around 8-10 dollars. Obviously one is high end the other drug store so the prices will vary. Both products crease without a primer after a few hours, both definitely amplify your eye makeup when applied as a base..but let's see how they measure up against each other shall we?

We have two paint pots, this one above is Fresco Rose by MAC
This paint pot (Saro's favorite) is called Indian Wood
The two color tattoo's we have are #25 Bad to the Bronze and to your right
is #15 Audacious Asphalt

When applying these cream eye-shadows it is best to apply them with synthetic makeup brushes, one major downfall of the color tattoo's is that they do not apply well with your fingers you HAVE to use a synthetic brush to get a proper application, otherwise the color looks blotchy. With the MAC Paint Pots you can use your fingers and still get an even application across your eyelid, yes you will get residue left on your fingers from both products as shown on the upper right hand picture, but just wash your hands afterwards.

In the top left picture it is a swatch of the color tattoo eye-shadow in #25 the swatch was done with my bare fingers, the bottom right hand picture is a swatch of the same shadow using one of the synthetic brushes in the picture. As you can see the application is much more pigmented and even when used with a brush.

Consistency wise, both products are very similar. Paint Pot is to your left while the Color Tattoo to your right, both are very creamy and pigmented. TIE

Application wise, MAC Paint Pots are easier to blend, than the Color Tattoos. MAC PAINT POTS

Price wise, the Color Tattoos are way more affordable and depending on where you buy them (and if there is a sale going on) they can end up being HALF the price of the MAC Paint Pots. Maybelline Color Tattoos

Just a quick tip, you should store your cream eye shadows upside down so they don't dry out as fast.

So who won the battle? Mac Paint Pots woot woot! Yes they are more pricey but it is worth it, they can be applied with your fingers, are more smooth, easier to blend, plus the color range is better. Now don't hate the color tattoo's they are pretty freaking awesome too, but more of a hassle to use, which is why we prefer MAC Paint Pots :)
